  1. Tom,
    I am doing some comparison on methods to get SRS due to a half sine base pulse. Took the opportunity to learn the basic of python (methods implemented in Mathcad are working great). I have been using your documents for a very long time so was delighted to go though the python stuff you posted. In the SRS scripts I noticed that you call some functions (option) about residual being included bu I have found nothing (so far) about what this residual is (there is nothing in the paper about SRS). Are you able to clarify this particular point?

    • Consider a half-sine base input pulse. The primary response is the response that happens during the pulse. The residual response is the response that occurs after the pulse when the system is undergoing free vibration. Higher frequency systems will tend to have their peak responses during the half-sine pulses. Lower frequency systems tend to have their peak response after the pulse. The “maxi-max” is the absolute peak that occurs for the combined primary and residual durations.
